Analysis for Friday 24th July.

Ascot

4.40 Gallant of the older horses he's ran a couple of eye catching races in a row now not getting the clearest of runs and has been coming down the handicap for it so is of some interest at a forecast price of 12s and could be a little value.

The most likely winner of the race is Mr writer who won despite the race not panning out to his advantage having to mow down cashbox after he had got away from the field and almost looked to quicken twice to get past.. a 4lb penalty might not stop him, especially if there's a strong pace to run at.

He's a 3 Yr old receiving weight for age, and he's on the up with the stiff finish also looking a plus. Forecast to be 7/2 that would be OK.

5.12 Lady Roxby has been keeping better company than tomorrow, having run in a class 3 handicap, a listed race, and a class 2 handicap and has in the most been favourite or second favourite this year.

So dropping into a class 4, down a couple of pounds and over 5f with a stiff finish, she could go well at a forecast price of 8s.

York

5.32 Misunderstood could be interesting in a 0-80 having travelled very strongly over 6f at Ayr and seemingly the jockey could have done better, but down another 2lb having started the season off 90 and now off 81 having moved over from France and Danny tudhope booked. It's not the first time he caught the eye either as at Doncaster he was finishing strongly over 6f and upto 7f should suit as it did in France when he won over a mile in a group 3 and at deauville over 7.5f.

He is forecast to be 33s, but I doubt that somehow, and if I could get 12s or above, I'd play small in an 18 runner race, and hopefully, there's a good pace to run at.

Alpha capture would be the danger having just failed at Doncaster by a short head in a class 4.. but his price will tell us that. Forecast 4s. And we would rather play small on the Misunderstood

6.05 Talisman time ran in a better race than this last time out here over 14f finishing 3rd but giving weight for age to the 2 3yr olds that beat him and pulling well clear of the 4th and the rest of the horses that weren't recieving weight for age. He hasn't stood much racing, but if he can run to that form up to the 2 miles, he wouldn't be without a chance at a forecast price of 12s. All about value 8s or bigger for a small play as he does carry risks.

We went round and round in circles to try to find a value play tomorrow but ultimately we tended to have more than one horse in each race. We've talked about lots of horses on the podcast @GallopingGu
