Newcastle analysis 24th Feb

3.42 Grant Wood , if he's ready to go he'd be a player at decent odds, he's dropped 10lb since his last run here in April last Yr where he finished 2nd beaten a head off 85 in a class 3 so off 75 in a class 5 hes well in.

His cd form reads 3 runs a win a 2nd and a 3rd so this is his track. Infact he has a good all weather record of 8 runs 2 wins 3 places. He's had a 141 day break and he's ran well in the past after 168 days break twice in the past finishing 2nd at wolves and 3rd here over cd. His last 2 runs were on the turf in class 3s and prior to that he went off favourite at Southwell off 81 in a class 4,so my angle is dropped in grade the last 2 times hes been eligible to run in a class5 hes boltedup, back on all-weather of a decent mark of 75 having finished 2nd twice in a row in March and April in class 3s off 85.

Kitaab ,looked to be coming back to the boil last time out over an inadequate 5f but was finishing strongly having dropped in the weights, he's well enough handicapped to make his mark over a cd he's enjoyed in the past with a win and a place to his name. If they were both around their fc prices of 12s I'd play both very small.

5.42 dream illusion, is in good form, she's a cd winner and last time out at Southwell she finished a Gallant second travelling very well throughout the race but ultimately just secoming to packet of biscuits in the final half furlong. Dropped back to a class 6 at a track that suits her strong travelling style she has a fair chance with Jason Hart on board. If 7/2-4/1 was available she'd be an OK price.
